While the recipe for the best ribs is usually a secret… Reporter Amber Schatz shows us why Ribfest could use a dash of sunshine. The food’s hot and the music’s playing, but right now the wind appears to be blowing away customers. Organizers with the downtown association say they’ve had around one thousand visitors so far today… A number estimated lower than last year at this time. The first annual watermelon eating contest was postponed until tomorrow and vendors are having to hold down their property, to make sure it doesn’t blow away. But still, Ribfest is ready for customers who like good food and music. (Nicole Neppl/Downtowner’s Association) “We’re really hoping the wind’s going to die down later this afternoon and get a little nicer, but tomorrow’s supposed to be pretty nice so we’re hoping everybody will come out tomorrow and enjoy.” Tonight the live music starts at 7 under the big tent, and Ribfest continues through tomorrow night.
