USPS Seeks To ‘Stamp Out Hunger’ For 20th Year

Letter carriers will pick up donated food items to local food banks.

In the past twenty years, U-S Postal Service workers have collected more than 70- million pounds of food as part of their “Stamp Out Hunger” national campaign. Locally, residents of the Valley have donated as much as 200-thousand pounds in one weekend. As this weekend marks another year of the campan, letter carriers are asking members of their community to support food banks in the area. Gleaner’s Food Bank in Youngstown will be one of the recipients of the campaign. Each week, the food bank services a couple hundred people … And each month, dozens of area agencies. Postal service workers request that you don’t donate any food that’s expired or close to expiration. All you have to do is leave donations by your mailbox this Saturday, and postal workers will pick it up
