for their kids. jason vinkler has more. the us department of agriculture says that last year 86 percent of children nationwide who were in need of food during the summer did not have access to a meal program. that’s something a new website launched by the pennsylvania department of education hopes to alleviate. pa-summer meals-dot-com lets low income families locate up to 25 participating free summer meal sites by simply typing in a street and city name. one of those sites is the stey-nevant public library in farrell. the idea is to provide nutritional meals to kids when they are not in school. the usda says that a lack of nutrition during the summer months could set up kids for failure once the school year begins. the library believes the free summer meals program works well with their offerings to keep kids learning. for more information on a meal site near you, you can find a link on
