Need For Food Donations Up Dramatically

Food banks and businesses hope Hunger Action Month raises awareness about the dramatically increasing number of new people relying on food banks in Western Washington. KING 5’s Jane McCarthy reports.

MCCARTHY REPORTS nTHE NEED FOR DONATED FOOD HAS JUMPED DRAMATICALLY nTHE LINES OF FOOD BANKS ARE STRETCHING WITHIN THE nNEW NUMBERS FROM FOOD LIFELINE SHOW AN ELEVEN PERCENT INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF NEW PEOPLE RELYING ON WESTERN WASHINGTON FOOD BANKS IN THE PAST YEAR nWE ‘VE ADDED nAN ADDITIONAL SIXTY SIX THOUSAND PEOPLE WANT IT WITH ONE OF THE ONLY QUEST nSTADIUM nTHAT ‘S WHY FOOD LIFELINE IS PAINTING THE TOWN ORANGE CREATING BLAZING REMINDERS THAT THIS IS HUNGER ACTION NOT nTHE HOPE IS THAT PEOPLE WILL TAKE THE MONEY THEY WOULD HAVE SPENT ON LUNCH ONE DAY nAND DONATED TO A FOOD BANK INSTEAD nSEVERAL BUSINESSES OBTAINING THE TOWN ORANGE TO nI BECAME INVOLVED BECAUSE I WAS SADDE
