to save your fresh green beans.. whether you grew them.. or bought them.. the biggest key is how they’re prepared. joseph’s taking the garden indoors.. for a quick lesson on blanching. well this week i wanted to show you how my wife and i process green beans. what we are going to do is we’re going to blanch them. so, first off we take the green beans and then we wash them. after we wash them, we take the beans and break them up and put them in a steamer. okay that’s how we are going to cook these. this is about how full she likes the steamer because they get heated through much quicker this way and more uniformly. the water should be boiling before you start the blanching. so put the green beans on after the water boils and then set your timer. three to four minutes generally is sufficient. okay once they’re done and the have a bright green color to them and then we quickly take them off
