but trumbull county held a meeting today taking a step toward locally grown food in the lunch room. julie loeper has the story. the trumbull county health department says the valley is ideal for farming. ohioians eat 35-billion dollars worth of food each year…but of all that…only five percent is grown here. this group of farmers and school officials are hoping to change that. agriculture is still ohio’s number one industry. health department educator mel milliron says the idea of locally grown food in the cafeteria, isn’t too far fetched. culinary students from trumbull county technical center put together 80 lunches friday made totally from local ingredients. leaders hope friday’s meeting can grow into healthier lunches in schools. julie loeper 27 first news. youngstown state university’s women’s club is helping local women
