Best Bites goes gas station gourmet
food… you think hot dogs and chimichangas. don’t get me wrong — i love both of those. but in this week’s best bites… we’re checking out a convenience store where you can find a gourmet bistro on site … along with a chef that’s always cooking up something special. nats fresh baked scones….. pancakes with warm peach compote… and a wide range of high end, international beers. not what you’d expect to see…. nats nats nats …at a gas station! latitudes — on 528 and westside blvd in rio rancho — is re- defining the everyday convenience store. “we have fresh produce, we have a wine and liquor store, milk competitive prices. all of our groceries are grocery store priced.” the scones are one of our bigger movers. we have a cubano sandwich in the afternoon which is good. the baked ziti for the take home meals at night time is just wonderful.
