If I'm wandering around online and a recipe or new blog catch my eye, I'll typically add that blog as a subscription in Google Reader and tag the post.  That way, I can go back later to scroll through the rest of that blog's posts and tag anything else of interest and can automatically keep up with them going forward. If I find myself really drawn to that blog, either because the writer is funny or quirky, or they put out a lot of great recipes or photos that inspire me (whatever the case may be), I'll then make a point to connect with them in other ways - E-Mail, Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest, etc.  I have...

Cantaloupe Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta

During a conversation with my mother one day, it came up that she used to love to eat vanilla ice cream inside a half of a cantaloupe, so she could scoop a little of the melon with a bit of ice cream.  I thought of that while looking at melons int he grocery store the other day, so decided to play with the vanilla/cantaloupe combination and make a vanilla bean panna cotta.I first saved the pulp from straining the juice and served the panna...

Finish the Sentence Friday: When I was younger I wanted ...

When I was younger, I wanted to be a famous race car driver.Hmmm, no, that's not right.  When I was younger, I wanted to be a pitcher, but I got into some trouble with a loan shark...no, that wasn't it either ...When I was younger, I wanted to run off and join Ringling Bros.  (That might actually have been true for a while.) When I was younger, I wanted to be a fisherman.  Heck, I don't even eat fish, so that's not it...

Taco "Shells" Two Ways

Are you a pasta lover?  If so, have you ever had it fried?  Fried ravioli have become more and more common over the years, but before I first encountered those, I was presented a platter of deep fried farfalle pasta with spinach and artichoke dip.  I remember it like it was yesterday.  It was love at first bite!  Every once in a while, I'll fry up a batch with some marinara or spinach dip. It's everything you already...

Cinnamon-Honey Peanut Butter Corn Flake Treats

Not that long ago, I posted a recipe for Copper Pennies, mentioning that I had acquired the recipe while visiting with a friend's family when I was living in New Orleans.  Ironically, I just recently got an e-mail from her sister, who apparently stumbled onto my blog through one of her Google+ circles.  She reminded me that I had made Peanut Butter Corn Flake Treats with them and mentioned that she has been making them ever since....

Cashew Chicken

Growing up in the Boston area, I used to love when the folks would take us to Faneuil Hall Marketplace to wander around in all the cool shops and go to brunch at The Magic Pan Crepe Shop.  My favorites were always their Chicken Divan Crepe and their Spinach Salad with Mandarin Oranges and Almonds.  It wasn't until I was in college that my roommate talked me into deviating from the crepes and trying their Cashew Chicken.  I...

Armenian Burritos

This post was inspired by Robin Donovan, author of CAMPFIRE CUISINE: Gourmet Recipes for the Great Outdoors.  You may recall that I had an opportunity to review Robin's cookbook last week and that one of her recipes was for an Aram Sandwich.  I had mentioned that "Aram Sandwich" made me think of a lamb sandwich but that it really referred to the bread she used - lavash.  I started thinking about burritos while wrapping my Smoked...

Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

Because I haven't made them in so long, I've had Chocolate Chip Cookies on the brain lately.  I have been putting off making them because I didn't want to eat them all!  I finally broke down.  I figured I would make one tray and freeze the rest for another time.  Then I started thinking about how there are different camps when it comes to Chocolate Chip Cookies.  Some like them thin and crispy, others like them thick and...

CAMPFIRE CUISINE: Gourmet Recipes for the Great Outdoors by Robin Donovan

When first offered the opportunity to review Robin Donovan's Campfire Cuisine, what caught my attention was was the mention of one of the items - Aram Sandwiches.  Why did that catch my attention?  Because Aram is a very common Armenian name.  I was thinking it might be some sort of lamb sandwich, but in this case, the name is in reference to the type of bread used - lavash.  Lavash is basically the Middle/Near Eastern...

Thai Chicken Pizza

I give up ... on store-bought pizza dough anyhow.  I had a heck of a time with my last attempt - first rolling it out, then having a power outage, but I figured that was a one-time deal since I've used the dough for bubble breads, breadsticks, poppers, calzones, etc. with no problem. Apparently, I just can't roll it out into it's intended purpose ... a pizza crust!  Next time, I'll either throw together my own and see how that works...

Sharing the Love

I have been nominated for another Liebster Blog award, this time by the lovely Stephanie over at Life, Unexpectedly.  If you have been following me here for a while now, you know I nearly drove myself crazy the first time, in trying to find the actual origin of the award, because the requirements seem to keep morphing from one thing to another.  In an effort to maintain what little sanity I still possess, I'm going...
